Abstract

Wikidata is to data what Wikipedia is to text - the open version that anyone can edit. Covering ca. 50 million concepts at the moment, it is essentially the edit button of the Semantic Web and becoming an essential component of Web-based workflows and infrastructure, including for research. It is both a citizen science platform (bringing together a community of about 20 000 contributors each month) and compliant with the FAIR principles to make research data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable. In this talk, we will zoom in on how Wikidata interacts with open science workflows and current developments in this space.
